CUFLA Week 2 Preview

Opening week of play in the Canadian University Field Lacrosse Association (CUFLA) is in the books as 13 of the 15 teams played at least one game. 2014 marks the 30th season for CUFLA, which is made up of schools in Ontario and Quebec.

CUFLA is separated into two divisions: the East features Bishop’s, Carleton, Concordia, McGill, Ottawa, Queen’s and Trent. West Division schools are Brock, Guelph, Laurier, Laurentian, McMaster, Nipissing, Toronto and Western Ontario.

Newcomers Nipissing (1-1) and Ottawa (0-2) played their first-ever CUFLA games, with the Lakers making history on September 7 earning their first victory, 14-11 over McMaster. The Gee-Gees will hope to get their first win on Sunday when they host Concordia (0-2).

Week 2 begins with a clash between defending Baggataway Cup champion Guelph facing Western Ontario (2-0) on Friday. Three-time champ Western are off to a good start with road victories over Nipissing and Laurentian.
