Swarm Acquire Goalie MacDonald From Edmonton

The Minnesota Swarm and Edmonton Rush announced a trade today involving players and draft selections.


Brodie MacDonald, Langley Thunder

Going to Minnesota:

  • Brodie MacDonald, goalie
  • No. 3 pick in the 2014 NLL Draft

Going to Edmonton:

  • Tyler Carlson, goalie
  • No. 1 pick in the 2014 NLL Draft
  • 2nd Round pick in the 2015 NLL Draft

24-year old Brodie MacDonald has been the backup to Aaron Bold for the past three seasons in Edmonton. Selected in the 2010 NLL Draft by the Philadelphia Wings, MacDonald has career stats of: 47 GP, 2-2 W-L, 9.41 GAA, .777 save%.

MacDonald, who is 6’7″ 290-pounds, will have every opportunity to become the no. 1 goalie for Minnesota. The only other goalie currently on the Swarm roster is free agent Zach Higgins.

Currently playing in the WLA for Langley Thunder, MacDonald has helped lead the club to a solid start (second place in WLA), posting stats in 11 games: 6-5 W-L, 8.00 GAA, .843 save%.
