NCAA Division II Semifinals Set For Sunday

While the NCAA Division I lacrosse tournament earns most of the media attention, Division II and III will also be crowning champions in Baltimore next weekend. The NCAA Division II tourney field has been narrowed down to four with semifinals scheduled for Sunday, May 18.

In one semifinal top-ranked Adelphi University (17-1) will face Long Island University-Post (10-5) in Garden City, NY. The two teams met early in the season with Adelphi coming away with a 11-7 victory. That game was in March and was just before a mid-season slump which saw Post drop four of six games. Currently on a four-game winning streak, the seventh-ranked Pioneers hope to keep their recent momentum and pull off the upset.

A South Region matchup between two top three teams will be featured in the other semifinal. Second-ranked Limestone College (17-1) will play third-ranked University of Tampa (16-2) in Gaffney, SC. This game will be a rematch of their March 22 clash when the Saints topped the Spartans 8-5. The loss was the first of the season for Tampa, whose only other defeat was at Mercyhurst in early April. Tampa avenged that loss by eliminated Mercyhurst in the quarterfinals.
