Demons, Lock Monsters Clash Opens CLax Week 5

Week 5 in the Canadian Lacrosse League opens with what could be the biggest matchup of the season. League-leading Ohsweken Demons (4-0) are set to host Niagara Lock Monsters (4-1) is a clash that could go a long way in deciding who comes out on top of the CLax standings at the end of the season.

Friday night is the second matchup between the two teams. Ohsweken took a 14-11 win on Family Day at Seymour-Hannah Sports Centre. On Friday the setting will switch to Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, home of the Demons.

Offensive firepower will not be lacking in the matchup between the two. Ohsweken have scored 73 goals in just four league games, while giving up a league-low 40 goals. Chris Attwood is the top scorer in CLax with 38 points (18 goals, 20 assists). Teammates Josh Johnson (10 goals, 11 assists), Tom Montour (10 goals, 10 assists), Jason Henhawk (6 goals, 14 assists) and Wayne VanEvery (9 goals, 6 assists) are also among league leaders.

Niagara have plenty of scoring as well with Bryan Neufeld and Andrew Potter each have 7 goals and 20 assists this season. Dylan Llord, Corey Fowler, Travis Gibbons, Tim Bergin and Jordan Daradick all have double-digit point totals for the Lock Monsters.

In other league action, Durham Turfdogs (1-4) will welcome Ohsweken to GM Centre on Saturday afternoon. Barrie Blizzard (0-4) will be in search of their first victory for new head coach Brad MacArthur on Saturday night when they face Southwest Cyclops (2-2) at ILA.
