Demons & Cyclops Victorious In Week 4

ST. CATHARINES, ON – Monday, February 24, 2014 – In Week 4, the SouthWest Cyclops evened their season record at 2-2 with an 18-14 victory over the Durham Turfdogs (1-4) Saturday night at the ILA.  On Sunday, the Ohsweken Demons (4-0) remained unbeaten with an 18-10 win over the Barrie Blizzard (0-4) at the Barrie Molson Centre.

At Iroquois Lacrosse Arena, the Cyclops and Turfdogs met in the rematch of last Saturday’s game in Oshawa.  The Turfdogs came out with revenge on their mind scoring just 27 seconds into the game.  This led to a back and forth first quarter that had Durham leading 5-3 heading into the second.  The second quarter was all Cyclops as they scored 8 straight goals and led 11-6 at the half.  Durham pulled it together in the third but, was never able to narrow the gap any closer than a 4 goal difference and went on to an 18-14 victory.

In Barrie, the Blizzard were hoping for a fresh start with a new Head Coach and some new faces in the lineup as they battled the Ohsweken Demons.  After a close first quarter that saw the Demons leading 3-1 heading into the second, the Demons caught fire and quickly built an 11-3 lead at halftime.  There was no looking back in the second half as the Demons continued to roll in the third, and despite some adjustments by the Blizzard, they trailed 17-6 going into the fourth.  The final quarter started to get a little heated, which looked like it sparked the Blizzard who rallied with 4 goals however, it was too little, too late and the Demons cruised to an 18-10 win to remain the only undefeated team in CLax.
